BIG CATCH

Cast your line and reel in the big one!

Homebrew Atari 2600 Port

Cast your line and reel in the big one! BIG CATCH is a ColecoVision conversion of the Atari 2600 fishing classic. Compete to catch the most fish while avoiding the hungry shark patrolling the waters below.

Two anglers sit on opposite docks, casting their lines into the lake. Different fish are worth different points — the deeper fish score higher, but they take longer to reel in and the shark is always lurking. Race your opponent to reach the target score first!

BEHIND THE SCENES

The original Fishing Derby was designed by David Crane for Activision in 1980 — the same programmer who later created Pitfall! It was one of Activision's earliest releases and demonstrated that third-party developers could create games that rivaled the quality of Atari's own titles. BIG CATCH enhances the experience with the ColecoVision's expanded color palette and higher resolution sprites.
